Another meeting that could have been an email

Curlicues set adrift on endless seas of notepad lines

blending words into seafoam,

little rock lobsters scurrying away from my ink spill

 

Johnny Perfect elaborates on numerical values while I

lay claim to this craggy hillside near the water

 

Blink twice and nearly stab a cockle with my pen tip

or maybe it was a mussel, can’t tell from the meanderings of

my thoughts as if my brain were fried from hours of snorting quota

 

My body is lacking basic necessities like food, water, vitamin sea,

drowning in the monotony of four o’clock team building

 

Voices like crashing waves rise and roar then settle

at the dissection of projected asset values

while I hum a siren’s song to the starfish at my fingertips…
